On Tuesday morning we continued our drive northward on I-15 from the southern part of Utah. Our destination is the KOA Brigham City. Actually, the KOA is a couple of miles south of Brigham City in Perry but I guess the owners think the use of a word well-known to Mormons would attract more customers.
Driving up from Beaver, where we spent the night, the terrain continues to change as we come closer to Provo. Around Beaver it’s fairly flat with few trees to obstruct the view of the wide-open sky.
The view through the windshield of our Airstream Land Yacht is enhanced by the beauty of the Utah mountains; the Unitah-Wasatch Range.
While driving through Provo, Salt Lake City, and Ogden Byron commented that he felt like he was on the world’s longest main street. At points there are six lanes going either direction approaching SLC.
Our drive today was about as long as yesterday’s; about five hours on the road with one stop for rest and one stop for fuel at a Flying J. Since we had good cellular data coverage along the way Martha was able to put in a good amount of work before arriving at the KOA around 2 p.m.
Our parking spot at the campground is at near the base of a mountain and about six miles from the northern part of the Great Salt Lake.
Martha claims she could handle waking up to a view like this - rocky mountains in the background and green meadows in the foreground and trees in between. Only a power line obscures a clear view. By the way, the “shadow” near the peak of the mountain is actually a forest of evergreen trees. The rocky part of the mountain is the layers that were lifted up during a process of development that formed the mountain range many, many years ago.
After a trip to Walmart for some groceries a little more work time we watched a Perry Mason episode before turning out the lights. Just imagine getting to watch a 1959 episode of Perry Mason in black and white on our HD-capable, color TV via an other-the-air, digital broadcast.
